he Southwold Railway Trust would like to wish all our readers – both supporters and detractors – a very Happy Christmas. We would particularly like to thank all our volunteers – who have contributed so much to the recent growth of the Trust: on our land at Wenhaston, in the rolling stock workshop, in administration, in looking after membership, in the shop, and by supporting us from near and far. Bearing in mind that all this activity is carried on in a context of even more persistent and entrenched opposition than most heritage railways have suffered, with the inevitable effect on morale and motivation, and our volunteers still persevere: we salute you all – “One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”
