This Sunday sees the first of our Summer Holidays open days. Steamworks will be open between 1pm and 4pm. We will be open every Sunday afternoon at those times until the end of August.
Also this week we will open for the first time our container displays.
This houses our model railway layouts all themed on the Southwold Railway. The largest is Southwold 1922 constructed by Stewart Green. This layout is to 4mm scale and was exhibited at a number of prestigious exhibitions before it’s retirement.
We also have a model of Southwold Station made by Rev Teddy Boston which has recently been refurbished by local artist Malcolm Cudmore. This layout too is 4mm scale, built before suitable prefabricated track was available so Rev Boston placed staples into the base board and soldered the rails to them.
The 45mm gauge shuttle track, formerly in our shop in the High Street, is also on display with it’s 15mm scale locomotive and carriage.
Our shop has also been moved across to the container which is accessed from the end of the platform across a short path.
We look forward to welcoming you on site.
